My new keyboard
« on: November 06, 2009, 12:46:11 AM »

Yay, my new keyboard finally arrived through the mail today. Totally worth the 130 euros I spent on it (30 bucks for shipping is not nice :().

Looks great doesn't it? Typing on it feels awesome as well, and the sound, oh, the magnificent sound, loudest keyboard I've ever typed on :D

The main point is the keyswitches, blue cherry switches actually do feel a lot better than the rubber domes used in every logitech/microsoft/dell/whatever keyboard on the market.

It looks a bit... well basic lol, though I am sure it has a lot of cool features for the price ;)

I'll stick to my laptoip and my laptop style keyboard on my desktop though!

Features ? Why would a keyboard need "features" ? Macro keys are a dumb idea (any respectable window manager/application can rebind keys to commands) and I'm not much a fan of trackpoints.

So you spent 130 euros (Thats near on £120 in real money lol) on a keyboard that has nothing what so ever that makes it stand out from the crowd? No LED's that change colour with music... or volume contros... or wireless.... just a keyboard?

Well yeah, except for those 1EUR a piece (in non-bulk anyway) blue cherry switches under every single key. Keyboards are for typing, being able to type comfortably and fast is worth all the money.

I've only typed with this 2 days, and it's bloody great, so much better than the sucky keyboards I've used all my life.

Also, sure it has volume controls, if I set it up to, you don't need special volume keys in a keyboard if you're using a REAL window manager. And wireless keyboards suck, not my thing :P

Each to their own I guess. I personally prefer lapto keyboards, thats why I a slim one for my desktop, though I have to admit, it is getting a bit tired now, so I'll have to replace it soonish  :(
